Diamonds In The Rough
The entrepreneurial landscape in Africa is full of potential, yet much of this potential remains untapped as a result of unique challenges faced by young African entrepreneurs. Since 2014, the Mandela Washington Fellowship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, has identified and empowered young entrepreneurs to address these issues in creative ways, in doing so, spurring growth and prosperity across Sub-Saharan Africa. This panel-style conversation will feature several Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni who are well-equipped to provide insights on this topic through the business training received during their Fellowship Institutes and their experiences as young African entrepreneurs. Strategic and fiercely committed, these resilient “Diamonds in the Rough” will help unpack the challenges and growth areas that exist in Africa’s entrepreneurship space and redefine what success in entrepreneurship looks like “on the ground”.
