Malizole Mdlekeza is an actuary specializing in pensions and investments, and is also a qualified Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and qualified Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA). He holds a BSc in Statistics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Actuarial Science, both from the University of Cape Town.
He is the chairman of the Alternative Investments committee of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA). This focuses on hedge funds, private equity & SMMEs, infrastructure investment as well as public sector related investments (social & government projects), together with their suitability for institutional portfolios such as pension funds. He has worked in the alternative investments space within the South African financial services industry, and prior to that as an actuary in the insurance space as well as global markets investment banking. He is also involved in a number of other social & business programs & initiatives, and has been chosen as part of the Mail & Guardian Top 200 South Africans of 2017, under the business and entrepreneurship category.
