Biography

Khanyi Dhlomo has been defying the status quo from the very beginning. One of her earliest career moves made South African history when she became the first black newscaster for SABC1 at the age of 20. Ever since, Khanyi has continuously pushed herself to shatter glass ceilings and transcend boundaries. Her editorship of True Love magazine doubled readership and circulation figures. Her vision for Ndalo Media became a multi-platform, award-winning media company with divisions covering book, digital and print publishing (including ELLE and DESTINY magazines), events, content marketing, and more recently television and multimedia under Ndalo Pictures, the production house responsible for bringing Project Runway SA to our local screens in partnership with Mzansi Magic and Rapid Blue.

In amongst all of this, Khanyi completed an MBA at Harvard Business School, Boston, USA, she also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Industrial Psychology from the University of South Africa and a certificate in Media Management from the University of Stellenbosch Business School, where she was named Alumnus of the Year. She has been named one of Forbes magazine’s 20 Most Powerful Women in Africa aged under 40, won the Olay SA Iconic Woman Award in the Media, Arts & Entertainment category, and was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

She’s passionate about women empowerment, entrepreneurship and innovation in Africa and has been invited to speak on these topics at Oxford University, London School of Economics, Harvard Business

School, the Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg. Through her company, Khanyi supports charities and organisations working with women, entrepreneurs and children and has launched MentorFeed – a free, multi-faceted personal development platform that broadens the reach of high quality mentorship content.
